Jim Wheeler is an expert on all aspects of forensic tape analysis,
audio & video enhancement, and tape restoration:
- Served as the expert witness for the U.S. Department of Justice Nixon White House (Watergate) tape case.
- Invented the original instant replay and shared an EmmyTM as co-inventor of the modern instant replay.
- Served as an expert witness in a variety of court cases and depositions.
- Member of the special Library of Congress Video Heritage Task Force and advisor to the Library of Congress and the National Archives.
- Solved the problem with the Jupiter Galileo probe tape and tape recorder while it was 400 million miles from earth.
Jim holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
In addition, much of his extensive tape knowledge has come from his years at Ampex Corporation,
the company that perfected both audio and video professional tape recording.
